Senior PGA Championship Comes To Oak Hill!

I spent the weekend with my Dad and my daughter, Shannon, watching the best of the Senior PGA Tour battle it out at Oak Hill Country Club here in Rochester, NY! We were rooting for Jeff Sluman, our local boy, to win but it wasn't to be. Unfortunately he had a bad Sunday after being in the lead for a little while. The final winner was Jay Haas - he just parred the rest of the field to death!

I also got to spend all day on Tuesday with my camera at the course. I ended up sitting on the 15th hole, a par 3, for most of the day and took these images you see below. Tuesday was the first day of the Pro Am so you can see some of the pros teaching the amateurs - Tom Kite, Bernhard Langer, and Fuzzy Zoeller, amongst others. Even saw Antonio Perez, the CEO of Eastman Kodak, playing with Langer!

The PGA comes back to Rochester in 2013 and hopefully Scott and I can get photographers passes and shoot on the weekend!

All in all it was a great weekend with terrific weather and great company. Shannon had a great time and I can't wait to get her back out on the course. Of course it's always great being out there with Dad!

In the meantime Scott was down in Washington D.C. playing with some of the big names in photography and Kyle Murphy from Ann Arbor - you might remember reading about him here in the blog. He was at the Santa Fe Workshops with us. More to come from Scott's first actual blog post! Stay Tuned!

Some nice words from Justin and Stacey

"We can't thank you enough for a great experience, we couldn't be happier. I've had numerous people already complimenting me on both your professionalism in and around the whole day and the quality of the images already up on the blog (I know you will be getting a few calls on future jobs). ...thank you so much for all the understanding with everything you've already done (including the touching write-up on the blog), it means a lot. It was nice to have that sense of ease with the photography, we never had to worry that something would or wouldn't be captured."

Justin and Stacey

Well, after that vote of confidence we are without words! Thanks so much! Now I have to go soak my head to get the swelling down... :-) Have a great night!

Stacey and Justin Get Hitched!

Scott and I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Stacey Graham and Justin Radford last night. What a blast! You can see some of the images below - just click on them to get a larger view!

This proved to be one of the most fun weddings we have done. Perhaps that was because Scott is related to many of the guests... but probably not!

Pastor Dan Thurber presided at the Oak Orchard Assembly of God. He's the first pastor I've seen with his own mixing board for lights and sound and did a wonderful job all around!

After the ceremony and multiple formal images with everyone's grandparents - I'm still not sure how one couple can have so many (!) - the wedding party drove off to the Holley waterfall, where we did Stacey and Justin's engagement session. It was a little warmer than February and the rain stayed away! There are many beautiful images from the 45 minutes that we spent there!

Then off to Deerfield Country Club for the reception. I am intimately familiar with this room since my wedding reception was there almost 26 years ago! I looked at the room and I could see the image of me sitting at the head table with my little brother Brian in my lap. Really brought back many great memories!

Justin's Dad, Lee, was the Best Man and gave as good a toast as I have ever heard! We are kindred spirits with screws holding our necks together - we both have had neck fusion surgeries.

There were a pair of DJ's from Stage Productions - funny enough their names are Mike and Mike! They both did a wonderful job and kept everyone jumping on the dance floor all night! Once again it was difficult during the Father/Daughter dance - it always brings a tear to my eye remembering mine with Wendy and the few years before I have to let Shannon go, too. Nice, fun, but sad at the same time...

This was our first wedding of the year and what a great start! I was so excited to go through the images this morning. It always brings back all the feelings of the party!

So, congratulations Stacey and Justin! Scott and I wish you all the best, though we know that you don't need our wishes - you have a great family around you for those! have a great time in Aruba!

As for the rest of you - let's hear from you! Leave some comments, for us or each other!

Clarion Riverside Photo Shoot

Scott and I had a great shoot at the Clarion Riverside Hotel Saturday night! Ellen Sargeant, the Clarion's Wedding Specialist and all around great organizer, asked us to create some new images for use on their website. The Ballroom was all decked out for Andrea and Aaron's wedding and we had about an hour to get as much as we could before the reception was to start. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating as we made our way around the room taking detail shots and generally getting in their way. Scott had arranged to get a man-lift for some elevated shots and we were hoping to get the bride and groom alone for a little bit before all the guests moved in. Everything went very well and we got a bunch of great shots!

Along the way we met Steve Chesler of Chesler Photography and his sister, Ellen of Lake Effects Web Design, who were there to photograph the wedding itself. They were both great about us being there and very gracious. I have seen Steve's work and he is terrific!

We also met Andrea DeFranco, from SE Video and her assistant, Mark, who were there to video. Their video lights helped a ton to make everyone's shots a little crisper!

Last, but certainly not least, was Dan Bookhart from Whirlin' Disc Dj's. He played a great mix of music that had all of us walking around singing the whole time!

So, here's a few of the images! Thanks very much to everyone, especially Andrea and Aaron, for allowing us to participate for a little slice of time!

In The News!

Sean

Those of you here in Rochester may have seen one of my photos in the Sports section of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle this past Sunday! The image is of Sean Ledford, one of our best SEAS swimmers, accompanied by a story about Sean, Kevin Tobey, and Courtney Vanwinkle and their stellar performance at this years Niagara District Championships.

On another note I met with Andrea and Mike on Friday and we signed up for their wedding in September at the Clarion Riverside Hotel here in Rochester! Can't wait for that one!

Also, Scott and I will be shooting images at the Clarion this week. They have redecorated their ballrooms and we are doing the images for their website! One more feather in our cap!

Mac Convert!

Well, I am finally converting to Mac! Scott has been bugging me for a while to convert but, without the incentive of a machine that I could actually run things on, I was reticent... Then Julia's Dad, Charlie offered a trade - photo shoots for a Mac G5 that was his old machine!

So, I went down to Mount Morris yesterday and picked it up. I brought my camera thinking that I would stop on the way, or the way back, and experiment. Of course I took some images of Julia while I was there! She's such a cutie!

So, I'm blogging here from the Mac and everything appears to be working. Amazing that I can actually get this stuff to work! I'm even listening to iTunes! I still haven't figured out the iSight video camera that's attached but, when I do, I'll try to video cast here!

Charlie tells me that our blog is getting a lot of attention from his friends and family. That's great! Leave some comments for us so we know you're there!

Ok, off to mow and roll the lawn! Have a great Sunday!

Small World

Here's just another example of the small world we live in...

Last year Scott and I created Senior Portraits and Family Portraits for Shanti, a beautiful girl that the camera adores (you can see her images on our website), and her family. Last week we met with Pooja, one of my daughters best friends from high school. She is getting married next year and hired us as her photographers. Then the other day we found out that Shanti's mother actually recommended us to Pooja! It turns out that their families are very close!

It always amazes me how interconnected we all are and why it is so important for us to meet new people and learn how we can help them! So, help us to help them - refer your friends to us for all their photography needs!

On another note... We are looking for Student Ambassadors to represent us to high school juniors for Senior Portraits! If you know of someone that might be interested, or you are in high school yourself, please contact us! Ambassadors will receive discounts and more on their Senior Portraits based on their referrals that book with us!

Once again let us thank all of you for your support of our addiction! Thanks!
