Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year everyone!  It's been a good start so far!  After a false start, Kevin and Kimberly came over with Abigail and we had a great portrait session!  She is such a doll - a little bit of hair, bright red cheeks, and incredible blue eyes that only a baby can have.  At 6 months she is sitting up on her own very well, too!  Here's some of the images that I like the best...  Enjoy!

On another note, Anne and i just got back from seeing "Marley and Me" at the theater.  Shannon didn't even want to go as she knew the ending already and I'm glad that she didn't.  Losing Churchill is just too fresh in our hearts.  Anne and I cried our eyes out.  This was easily the best movie I have seen in years!  Everyone that has a dog should see it and get a new perspective on your pet and how much they mean to you even if you think you know.  Know I can't wait to read the book!

Christmas was fun this year - my sister, Kris and her son, Bronson came up from Boston and spent the week with us at my parents house.  The kids had a blast sledding in the front yard for hours at a time!

Christmas Eve is at my parents with a plethora of cookies, candy, and other snacks -  a weight watchers nightmare.  Christmas day is at Anne's parents.  Anne's Mom makes a standing rib roast and yorkshire pudding every year with brandied plum pudding and hard sauce for dessert!  I look forward to it every year and it never disappoints!

New Year's Eve became a Wii Fest at the Slattery's for all the grandkids - our oldest, Wendy and her husband Jeff included!  Anne and I spent a quiet evening with the Patterson's and a couple that lives down the street from them and five kids under five!  All of them stayed up to the bitter end and behaved terrifically!

So, have a Happy New Year and keep us in mind for all your photography needs!  We'll be shooting the Hilton Area Swim Team portraits this week and still catching up on wedding stuff, too!  See you soon!

Trimming The Tree

Just sitting here in the Residence Inn in Buffalo - Shannon is swimming at the STAR meet this weekend so we're taking a mini vacation without the animals!  I just wanted to post a few images from trimming out our Christmas tree and then some from swim practice...  The cats were a blast as you can see!  I could hear them thinking, "Look!  Play toys hanging from everything!  It's Christmas!"

Brought my laptop and camera gear so I can shoot.  The meet is at the Flickinger Center in beautiful downtown Buffalo so there should be ample opportunity...  Stay tuned and have a great weekend!

Helena

Hi all!  I've been sitting here working on a swim poster for one of our SEAS swimmers, Helena and just loved this image of her!  She's a little ball of sunshine who is having a lot of fun swimming with her friends and not realizing that she's working pretty hard and learning a ton!

I look forward to shooting the swim team pictures every year.  It's fun to see the kids grow and improve!  Last night we attended my daughter Shannon's varsity swim team banquet and go to hear from the graduating seniors, some of whom I have been shooting pictures of for 5 or 6 years.  I'm sad to see them go but happy to see the excitement they have for their future!

Now we are off to swim practice again.  I think I'll bring the camera and get some shots of the little ones tonight...  Have a great week!

The Peters' Kids

Ooof!  You know how I love to shoot the babies!  It's always difficult and an exercise in extreme patience but the results are so terrific that it makes it all worth it!  That was with one...  Three is a whole other animal!

Joshua, Hunter, and Abigail are 7 month old triplets and, thankfully, aren't quite active enough to get away from us - yet.  With the help of Mom and Dad and their other two daughters, Hannah and Emily, we were able to get some great shots of all the children!

I can remember when my girls were this age and how much work just one child was.  I can't imagine how much work three are!  Three diaper changes, three baths, three feedings... three of everything.  Eric and Kim are holding up wonderfully though!

So, without further ado, here are the Peters' children in their Christmas best!

Scott and I sincerely wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

Swim Teams!

Hi!  Scott and i had a busy week!  We shot team and individual portraits for two teams, Sharks and Eagles Aquatic Sports (SEAS) and the Irondequoit Gators (IRON)!  Lots of swimmers and lots of fun!

It's always difficult to get images of groups.  Whether it's a wedding party, a sports team, or just a bunch of friends.  SEAS had 68 kids ranging from 6 to 18 and 4 coaches!  The best you can do is shoot a bunch of images and then move heads from image to image in Photoshop - pick the best one and pull in the active kids.

We are so grateful when parents and coaches chip in to help get the kids in line and seated in some sort of order for the team portrait!  Without their help it would take us twice as long to get these shots!

On another note, our advertisement came out in the Rochester Wedding Magazine!  We are looking forward to hearing from many new brides for the coming season!  Help us out and tell your friends!

Have a great weekend!

Pooja and Greg's Engagement Session

Happy Monday!  Pooja, Greg, and I met at Shoen Place in Pittsford on Sunday for their engagement session - what a great place!  There was only one thing wrong with this visit (I have been there hundreds of times) Pittsford Lumber was closed.  I believe that this is the first time I have been close to that area and not stopped in to drool over the exotic woods section!

Now, Pooja is one of my daughter Wendy's best buddies.  I've known her since they were in high school together.  This was the first time that I met Greg.  What a great guy!  Pooja picked a good one!  The only problem we had is that Greg is living in California right now and has been there long enough for his body to be acclimated to warmth.  For me, yesterday was a gorgeous, sunny fall day.  A little nippy - high 40's or low 50's.  To Greg is was downright cold!  He was a great sport though and only started to shiver badly after about an hour of walking about!  I tried to keep the two of them in sheltered areas and out of the little bit of wind there was but even I was getting a little chilled.

Then out of the freezer and into the frying pan...  We went up onto Monroe Ave to a coffee shop and it was like a furnace in there - 85 degrees!  A nice little place with just a few tables - one taken by a guy on a laptop and ipod; one taken by a couple of mom's with a gaggle of cute little kids with them; a young couple sitting on the couch.  Not much room for what I was thinking of but we all needed something warm to drink so we ordered and walked outside for a bit to take a bad picture with one of the ROchester Horses.  We returned after a few minutes and the guy with the laptop was on his way out so we stole his table.

The kids thought that it was cool having pictures being taken and I snapped a few of them just for fun before getting a few more of Greg and Pooja.  All in all a really great afternoon of shooting with a fun couple!  Enjoy!
